How do you adjust the nozzle?
As you turn the nozzle, the rubber center bevels, which increases or decreases the size of the aperture through which the texture flows. The larger the hole is, the heavier the splatter. For lighter textures, loosen the nozzle to make the hole smaller.

Do I have to prime before I paint?
It’s not necessary to prime your newly repaired surface prior to painting, but we do recommended it. Different brands of paint coat differently, and priming can help you achieve the best results.

I don’t seem to get the square footage out of the Orangepeel or Knockdown the can says I should get. What’s wrong?
Coverage varies by the thickness of the texture being applied. Often Spraytex is overapplied, which puts the “splatters” too close together and uses more product. Remember that the “in between” areas will be filled in with paint to produce the natural peaks and valleys of the texture. When spraying the splatter, only about 65-75% of the drywall should be covered; the paint will create the rest of the effect.

My can does not spray; it just oozes out of the nozzle.
Shake the can well for at least a minute. This will ensure that the compound loosens up inside the can. Another way to get the best spray is to warm the can by running it under warm water (not hot!) for a couple of minutes. This will increase the pressure in the can, allowing an easier spray.
