Ten Easy Steps to Professional-Quality Application
1. Patch the area you’re going to texture. (For detailed instructions
on patching, click here.)
Sand it smooth and wipe any dust away.
2. Make sure to use drop cloths or tape to protect areas like carpet or furniture
from any overspray that may occur during application.
3. Shake can well. If can seems cold, warm it up by running it under
warm water for about a minute. This helps loosen up the compound
and helps ensure an even spray.
4. The Sand nozzle is specially designed to propel Spraytex forward while
the can is kept in an upright position. Position your forefinger and middle
finger to press down on nozzle. Hold can about 15 to 20 inches away from the
wall
5. While moving can in a circular motion, spray short bursts of texture on
patch. You may also hold down and continuously spray while keeping the can
moving as you spray. Short bursts may make it easier to cover the area you
are patching. Always keep nozzle pointed away from your face.
6. Once you’ve achieved your perfect texture match, allow Spraytex to
dry for one to four hours, depending on the heaviness of your application.
8. Remember, the lighter the spray, the more coverage you’ll get from
the can.
9. Paint! Your patch will have virtually disappeared.
10. For easy cleanup, twist the nozzle off the can and clean with water. Do
not turn can upside down and spray to clean nozzle. Spraytex textures clean
up with water, even when they’re dry.
