1. Patch ceiling cracks or holes so that the surface of the repaired area is flush with the ceiling.
2. Protect carpet, furniture, etc., from overspray. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from overspray. Remember you are spraying upward, so gravity is working against you.
3. Dampen the patch with water, or seal it with paint or sealer. This is to slow down the absorption of Spraytex Acoustic Popcorn into the patched area.
4. Keeping can pointed away from face, remove the nozzle and insert the straw into front of nozzle so it points upward. Replace nozzle on can. Shake well.
5. Hold can 2-3 feet from patch. While moving can in a circular motion, spray short bursts of texture on patch. Do not build texture too heavy at one time; it is better to let it dry a little, then spray again for heavier texture.
6. Allow Spraytex Acoustic Popcorn to dry approximately 24 hours before painting.
7. It’s best to paint acoustic ceilings with a spray applicator rather than a roller, which can actually pull the popcorn texture off as you paint.
8. IMPORTANT: Do not seal Spraytex acoustic patches with a water-based or shellac primer. If the repaired acoustic patched area is to be painted, seal Spraytex acoustic-patched area with a quick-dry oil-based primer spray.
9. Spraytex cleans up with water. Clean straw with water after each use.
